Client Reviews
EXCELLENT Based on 159 reviews Posted on Richard G7. May, 2026Verified Hands down the best tour I’ve ever taken. Bernard (driver) and Edmund (guide) were flawless—warm, professional, and always exactly where they needed to be. We were revisiting places we’d lived 60 years ago, and I expected the usual heat-and-wait “it starts when it starts” pace. Not with Ashanti Tours. There was zero wasted time: we’d arrive and the event was already alive—crowds gathered, drums rolling, energy rising—and it would begin right then. In French-speaking areas, Edmund made everything effortless. We traveled through remote parts of Ghana, Togo, and Benin and felt safe and cared for throughout. Lodging ranged from simple-but-spotless to truly special, and the food was consistently excellent (yes, even dining beside a lagoon). Unforgettable moments: being welcomed into Ganvié by a boat of costumed singers and rowers, and witnessing a trance dance that was powerful, authentic, and deeply moving. I can’t recommend Ashanti Tours strongly enough.Posted on Von H26. April, 2026Verified ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Experience with Ashanti African Tours! Our trip to Ghana was nothing short of amazing, and that is all thanks to Ashanti African Tours! From start to finish, everything was handled with professionalism, care, and attention to detail. We traveled as a group of 10, and I have to say—the logistics were seamless. Our transfers from city to city were smooth, well-coordinated, and stress-free, which made a huge difference in allowing us to truly relax and enjoy the experience. A very special shoutout to Oscar and William, who truly went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable time. Their dedication, knowledge, and genuine passion for what they do did not go unnoticed. They made sure every detail was taken care of and that our group felt comfortable, safe, and well taken care of throughout the entire journey. Oscar also gave some excellent dinner recommendations, and every single one was a hit! Our group thoroughly enjoyed each dining experience—it added such a special touch to the trip. If you're considering a trip to Ghana, I highly recommend Ashanti African Tours. They don’t just plan trips—they create meaningful, memorable experiences.Posted on vandelvira25. Posted on napasap22. March, 2026Verified Two wonderful weeks birding in Ghana My daughter and I have recently returned from two weeks in Ghana arranged by your company and we would like you to know how much we enjoyed the trip. My main interest was birding and we saw a total of 254 different species of which 118 were new to me. We also appreciated the opportunity to learn more of the culture of Ghana in general and the Ashanti in particular. And the butterflies, moths, other insects and various lizards/geckos were fantastic. Our bird guide, Johnson, was dedicated and caring; our driver Daniel was always kind and cheerful despite some challenging road conditions. At the lodges we met more kind and caring people. My daughter greatly appreciated walks, jogs and cycle rides with Edmund at Lou Moon and Enoch at Picathartes. We particularly appreciated the accommodation at the Picathartes Guesthouse and Ankasa Reserve Lodge; and Lou Moon was paradise! Please pass on our appreciation and gratitude to all concerned. Best wishes, Jane IchajapanichPosted on Sam m16. March, 2026Verified 15 day Ghana, Togo, Benin Odyssey My tour was tailored by Ashanti tours to reflect my interests in history and culture. It was well thought out and left me with many wonderful impressions of the people we met along the way. The tour was also peppered with some natural wildlife moments equally memorable. The hotels we stayed at were comfortable, friendly and professional. My tour guide and driver were impeccably thoughtful, patient and always ensured we were safe wherever we were. Whether meeting a family of Fulani herders making cheese under a shaded tree or visiting a vibrant African market, or experiencing the excitement of a traditional dance the entire 2 weeks have left indelible memories to be cherished. I will be looking to approach Ashanti Tours again for any future adventures in Africa which will most definitely happen.Posted on Rosie D8. March, 2026Verified Fabulous tour of Ghana with Ashanti African Tours I have nothing but praise for Ashanti Tours. I was very happy with the itinerary - Accra, Keta, Kumasi and Elmina - and with the hotels. All were good and La Villa Boutique in Accra was special. I could spend a whole week there happily. Every lunch spot was also very good. We particularly enjoyed the Golf Club at Tema. Our tour guide and driver were the best we could have had. They were organised, warm and friendly, knowlegeable and thoughtful. Nothing phased them. They were flexible and able to adjust the itinerary if necessary or if we wanted. The forts and castles and Slave River were sad but important experiences. From the small Fort Prinzenstein, Keta, Volta Region to the enormous Cape Coast Castle in the West. We enjoyed learning about the history and culture of Ghana at the Cultural Museum in Accra, the Tetteh Quarshie cocoa farm, and the Manhyia Museum and Ashanti Traditional Home in Accra. I will never forget my visit to Ghana.Posted on Rosie D11. February, 2026Verified Fabulous tour of Ghana with Ashanti African Tours I have nothing but praise for Ashanti Tours in general and for our tour guide, Lawrencia, and driver, William, in particular. I had always been interested in visiting West Africa but particularly Ghana. A relative of mine had lived and worked there and I had read about and admired its late President Jerry Rawlings. Also, I grew up in Jamaica so was interested in the cultural and historical links between the two countries. I was very happy with the itinerary and with the hotels. All were good and La Villa Boutique in Accra was special. I could spend a whole week there happily. Every lunch spot was also very good. We particularly enjoyed the Golf Club at Tema. William was the best driver we could have had. Calm and careful, I always felt safe with him. But really, the trip was made by Lawrencia. She is truly the best tour guide anyone could have anywhere. She was organised, warm and friendly, knowlegeable (incredibly knowledgeable) and thoughtful. Nothing phased her. She took everything in her stride and helped us every way possible. She was flexible and able to adjust the itinerary if necessary or if we wanted. I simply can’t praise her more highly. Lawrencia and William worked very hard while we were enjoying ourselves. It must have been trying for them but they never seemed tired or anything other than ready to help us. They are wonderful people. I will never forget my trip to Ghana. Thankyou Ashanti.Posted on Linda10. February, 2026Verified Amazing Trip To West Africa My husband and I planned a vacation in West Africa, traveling in January 2026. At the beginning stages we knew we would want to visit Ghana, Togo, and Benin. We also knew it would be easier to hire a private guide and driver as we had never visited these regions. Using various sources including TripAdvisor we decided to inquire with Ashanti African Tours (& 2 other companies) about pricing and suggestions for an itinerary. Two of the companies got back to us right away and one of those companies was Ashanti. Over the next several months I emailed back and forth with Christine of Ashanti. She was responsive, professional, and kept me on track with deadlines. For example, she let me know when I should begin my application for the Ghana visa and I am so happy she did as obtaining that visa was a bit of a challenge….nothing bad but took quite a while to complete online application and then you are required to send items in (hard copy) along with your passport to the New York Ghana Embassy. Christine also let me know how to respond to certain questions on the visa application and supplied sponsors names and other information required to obtain the visa. After months of planning, we left for Ghana on January 19. Our guide was Edmond and driver was Daniel. I can’t say enough wonderful things about both of these individuals. I want to first share that our luggage did not show up in Accra upon arrival. The next evening our luggage was scheduled to arrive and there was some mix ups but thanks to Edmund and Daniel they tracked our luggage down. I know it took a lot of effort on their part and we were more than grateful. Our trip was for 14 nights and 15 days. There were so many memorable experiences that it would be difficult to choose a few activities that were the highlight. Many of our activities included a local guide which was nice and added to our learning but Edmund has such a breadth and depth of knowledge about West African history….we feel like we have just finished a college course on West Africa! He accompanied us on all of the activities and was such a dedicated guide and teacher. We have done a lot of traveling and Edmond is one of the best guides we have encountered. The driver, Daniel was so kind and patient. He is a focused driver and we felt like he always made great decisions behind the wheel. Coming from California, driving is quite different in West Africa but he seemed to be a very safe driver. The trip would not have been complete without Daniel. There were so many activities that we participated in – it would take pages for me to list each one out but some of our highlights was visiting the Fetish Market in Togo, Python Temple, the Women King memorial, Ganvie (stilted village & loved the welcome boat dancers/singers), and the boat ride to the Palm Wine village – all in Benin. After the boat ride we stopped by a drum maker’s village. They explained how they make the drums and their history but the most memorable part was the little kids who came out to dance when the drums began playing. In Ghana, there were so many incredible activities but two that stand out would be Wli Falls and learning about the trans-Atlantic slave trade. Primarily, we ate lunch and dinner at the hotels but lunch was at local eateries. Most of the local eateries were very delicious. We had opted for the luxury hotel option. Most of the hotels were very good to excellent. A couple were not at all luxury but the areas we were visiting had no other options. There was one hotel that we were very dissatisfied with and we were staying in that establishment for 2 nights. Unfortunately, we were not able to move but Edmond and Christine from the tour company listened to my concerns . They came up with a reasonable solution so although we still had to stay at this hotel I felt like we were fairly compensated for the poor hotel. If you are considering a trip to West Africa - actually their company is located in several African countries I would not hesitate to contact them. They will work with you on a customized itinerary, are very responsive and have great guides and drivers. There were about 3 times when we ran into another Ashanti Tour guide at an activity. They all seemed friendly and professional. We would give Ashanti Tour Company a 5/5 stars because they are an outstanding company. Thank you, Edmond, Daniel and Christine for a once-in-a-lifetime trip to West Africa!Posted on MGPG_118. February, 2026Verified Exceptional In Every Way My husband and I recently completed a private tour of Togo and Benin with Ashanti Tours. We have been to 25 countries in Africa and thanks to Ernestina, who planned our trip and Ben and Delphine, our driver and guide, we had an incredible experience. Ernestina was very prompt in responding to our many questions via email and she put together a very detailed, meaningful itinerary that featured the best in Togo and Benin. While on tour we could not have asked for a better team than Ben and Delphine, our driver and guide respectively. Both were very friendly, engaging, knowledgeable and service-oriented. During our journey which included some very long car rides, we engaged in many spirited discussions and learned alot about local history, culture and mores. Our tour was very memorable thanks to Ernestina, Ben and Delphine and we will never forget this experience. We highly recommend Ashanti Tours !Posted on Stoffl5. January, 2026Verified If you wanna see Ghana and its birdlife - they are THE company to go with Just ended a private 15 day Bird-photography tour and it was perfect in every aspect. The organization and communication with Ashanti booking office upfront has been timely, accurate and relevant every time. The knowledge and skill of Philip Senyo, our guide, was truly impressive and his dedication outstanding. Stephen was an excellent driver and support throughout and the car provided was comfortable and spacious. If you wanna see Ghana and its birdlife - they are THE company to go with
